This project is intended to support the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering students working under Dr. Girish Chowdhary in the Distributed Autonomous Systems (DAS) Lab as they continue to develop an autonomous golf cart. The School of Electrical and School of Electrical and Computer Engineering Capstone Design Team has been tasked with developing software to connect existing systems with a Velodyne LiDAR sensor and detecting obstacles in the surrounding environment in real time. This obstacle detection data will eventually be used by path planning software to improve autonomous driving capabilities of the golf cart system.
