This study was concerned with how much of the theory of absolute neighborhood retracts could be developed for generalized absolute neighborhood retracts. Several new characterizations of quasi-absolute neighborhood retracts are given. Some limitations of the theory are pointed out. Applications to hyperspaces of approximate absolute neighborhood retracts are also investigated.en_US
