Work and benefits of an elementary science supervisor in a small school
Abstract
Scope of Study: In this report a program has been set up indicating the work and benefits of a science supervisor in guiding a science program in the elementary grades. The results of this program is expected to give the pupils in the elementary grades a much broader background, and to create more interest in science. The author does not deny that science is a hard field, but he does maintain that with the property background and interest children will find science much easier. Findings and Conclusions: One of the chief reasons for the shortage of scientists is the shortage of good teachers of science, not only in the high school but in the grade school as well. One of the soundest things to do in light of modern elementary school practice is the training and employment of more science supervisors, people who know science and elementary education, people who can effect significant changes on a broad scale.
