This year for SpeedFest VIII, the Orange Team senior design team for Aerospace engineering was tasked with designing an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of evading doppler-based radar while deploying two weighted payloads within a 50ft by 50ft target zone. For an aircraft of this type, aircraft shaping is essential for radar evasion, as well as for aerodynamic design in order to keep the aircraft in the air. This project took theoretical (radar shaping), computational (CFD), and experimental (flight testing) looks at this project, and the result was the Orange team plane for SpeedFest VIII, ACE of Diamonds.
