Correlating and integrating industrial arts with the social studies
Abstract
Scope of Study: This study deals with three basic phases of industrial education (1) The use of crude tools began with pre-historic man's efforts toward survival and protection. The development of tools has had a tremendous impact upon man's life physically, socially, and educationally. (2) The history of industrial arts parallels man's sturdy advancement throughout civilization to the present. (3) The correlation and integration of the industrial arts and social studies program reveals certain philosophies inherent in modern education. Findings and Conclusions: The material concerned with correlating and integrating industrial arts was in articles and pamphlets. It is the opinion of the writer that further study is needed in not only the correlating of industrial arts and social studies, but also in the integration of other related subjects in the curriculum.
