This paper describes the implementation of an assemblersimulator for the PDP 11/40 computer. It is concerned with methods used to implement an assembler, to generate code which is interpretively executed by a simulator. Program-controlled input/output as well as device-initiated input, has been implemented. The assembler-simulator programs are written in PL/l, and are implemented on the IBM 360/65.
