Geometric Constructions
Abstract
The solutions of geometric construction problems have always intrigued me. The simplicity of the problems can frustrate the begining geometer. Much to the suprise of most mathematicians, algebra plays a fundamental role in the understanding of the solutions. This paper analyzes the properties of a construction tool called the Mira. Also included is a discussion of constructible polygons a Mira can construct. Later compass and straightedge constructions in the hyperbolic plane are discussed.
