The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of secondary mixing in helically-coiled tubular reactors in the laminar flow regime. Crystal violet dye and sodium hydroxide were used as the reactants in the study. Secondly, it was intended to design a helical flow tubular reactor for undergraduate laboratory. The operating conditions were based on a 1:1 flow rate ratio of sodium hydroxide and dye solutions and a design operating time of 2-3 hours.
