We investigate finitely generated groups of cohomological dimension 2 and certain actions on locally finite trees. Our setting includes examples of Daniel Wise, which possess two canonical splittings. We show that under suitable hypotheses such a group cannot admit more than two finite-index splittings, up to deformation.en_US
