| dc.description.abstract | The primary purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between clubhead speed (CHS) and force-time metrics during the isometric mid-thigh pull (IMTP) using a hexagonal trap bar. The study also investigated the differences in force-time metrics during the IMTP performed using the hexagonal trap bar and the straight barbell. NCAA Division II collegiate golf athletes participated in a cross-sectional study to assess anthropometry, CHS, and IMTP force-time metrics, including measures of peak force and time specific force produced at 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250ms. The IMTP was assessed using a hexagonal trap bar and a straight barbell. The study's primary findings showed a strong, significant correlation between maximal CHS and peak force (r = .802, p = .05). The results showed a strong correlation between CHS and force at 200ms and 250ms with moderate correlations shown at 100ms and 150ms. Peak force during the IMTP was significantly higher when using the hexagonal-trapbar (1,973.90 ± 551.07N) compared to the straight barbell (1,723.10 ± 445.86N, t(9) 3.12, p = .006). These results demonstrated a relationship between CHS and force-time metrics from the IMTP when using a hexagonal trap bar as well as a difference in force production during the IMTP when using the hexagonal trap bar compared to the straight barbell. | |
