dc.description.abstract | The goal of this research project is to determine whether the gender wage gap still exists, and if so, why it continues to exist. It explores the evolution of federal wage equality legislation, the establishment of the federal Equal Opportunity Employment Commission and how the state of Oklahoma in particular, has addressed the issue of gender wage parity. In addition, it will use a mixed research method approach; through a meta-analysis of existing literature and a quantitative comparison of census data reports conducted by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to investigate whether or not a wage gap continues to exist in the United States and in Oklahoma. The findings of this research conclude that while the gender wage gap has narrowed it continues to persist nationally and in Oklahoma.--Abstract. | |
