dc.description.abstract | This research project advances the understanding of the formation of the mentor-protégé dyad in the United States Navy. Utilizing open-ended interview techniques that are recorded, transcribed, and coded, utilizing a Classic Grounded Theory (CGT) methodology. The Constant Comparative Model was employed to ensure that codes were rendered saturated, thus achieving earned relevance and ensuring superfluous information was purged from the resultant theory. A Basic Social Process (BSP) describing the development of a highly functioning mentor emerged from the subjective experiences of the active duty sailors who were interviewed. The highlights and limits of the theory are discussed, as well as recommendations for future enhancement and research. | en_US |
