Evaluation of a Brief Parent Training Program for Increasing Parenting Knowledge and Self-efficacy While Increasing Approval of Nurturing Parenting Practices and Decreasing Approval of Ineffective Practices
Abstract
The focus of this project was to evaluate the effectiveness of a brief parent education program, as a teaching and preventative tool for both expectant and non-expectant individuals. The study was designed to test whether or not this parent education program would be effective in increasing parenting knowledge, approval of nurturing parenting practices, and self-efficacy while decreasing approval of ineffective parenting practices. This brief parent education intervention was effective in increasing parenting knowledge, approval of nurturing parenting practices, and self-efficacy towards parenting while decreasing approval of ineffective parenting practices. These changes were evident for both expectant and non-expectant men and women.
