| dc.description.abstract | The use of adjunct instructors in higher education continues to increase. The purpose of this study is to use quantitative methods to determine if financial compensation is predictive of overall job satisfaction and motivation of adjunct instructors in higher education. Additionally this study will attempt to determine instructor's commitment to continue as adjuncts. Participants in this study are a sample of 223 adjunct instructors from four higher education institutions in Tulsa, Oklahoma. | |

| dc.description.abstract | The results show that financial compensation is a key predictor of overall job satisfaction for the subjects. Personal achievement, working in a collegial environment, and students are additionally significant predictors of overall job satisfaction. A commitment to continue could not be statistically determined but over 70% of the subjects indicate that they do not plan to continue as adjunct instructors. This study provides new information about the population of adjunct instructors from these higher education institutions in Tulsa, OK. | |
