dc.description.abstractUsing data collected at and below the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the CLEO II Detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR), we have investigated the inclusive production of charged kaons, in the decays of B mesons. We present results of the measurement of the charged kaon momentum spectrum from B decays, using information from Specific Ionization Energy Loss (dE/ dx) and Time-of-Flight (ToF) Particle Identification (PID) devices. We fit PID histograms in the data with known samples of primary (pion, kaon, proton) and secondary ( electron, muon) control shape histograms using a chi2 minimization method in Mn_Fit. We average our findings for both PID devices, and compute the branching fraction and average multiplicity of charged kaons. We compare our findings with Monte Carlo simulated data and discuss the implications for b → sg from this analysis.en_US
