Unveiling Women's Religion and Experiences in Ancient Mesopotamia and Rome
Abstract
This work intends to uncover and examine women's religious roles in ancient Mesopotamia and Rome. By looking at women's religious practices, a more inclusive religious, women's history is revealed. Ancient Rome and Mesopotamia were both male-dominated societies that have scholarly traditions of women not being studied equally to men, especially in religious history. However, by making women an integral part of the religious history of each society, a greater understanding of the overall history is uncovered. Overall, women actively participated in the religious life, both privately and publicly, in both ancient cultures.
