Effects of the 2007-2008 financial crisis on United States poetry as shown by Joshua Clover's Red Epic
Abstract
This essay outlines the effects of the 2007-2008 financial crisis on United States poetry, as shown by Joshua Clover's Red Epic. It does this by first informing on the nature of the 2007-2008 financial crisis before moving on to a discussion of Joshua Clover and several close readings of poetry within the book. These close readings explain the nature of revolutionary poetry, what it means to write poetry for poets, and what poetry can do when faced against the monoliths that are money and power in the modern day.
