Impact of sensory stimulation on the transitions of children with autism spectrum disorder
Abstract
Research pertaining to the transition behaviors and transition difficulty for children with ASD and other disabilities has been broadly researched, however there is little published research focused on the impact of sensory stimulation interventions on transition behaviors for children with disabilities. The aim of this study was to understand the impact of sensory stimulation interventions on transition behaviors of children with ASD. This study was a single-subject AB design focused on a single participant with results indicating that sensory stimulation interventions can decrease transition difficulties. This study adds to the limited research pertaining to difficulties that children with ASD experience during horizontal transitions
