The Southern Ocean (SO), dominated by high surface wind speeds associated with frequent cyclones, is the most pristine environment on Earth, providing a natural laboratory to study the correlation of marine boundary layer aerosols with meteorological conditions in order to enhance the understanding of processes responsible for aerosol formation and loss. The Atmospheric Radiation Measurement Program’s Mobile Facility-2 (AMF2) on-board the Australian icebreaker Aurora Australis (AA) obtained ship-based cloud, precipitation and aerosol measurements during the 2017-18 Measurements of Aerosols, Radiation and Clouds over the SO (MARCUS) Experiment during cruises across the SO. With the data acquired, the 60-62 south degree latitude range witnessed a shift pattern of SO boundary layer aerosols and Cloud Condensation Nuclei (CCN).en_US
