Locating and using OER with OpenOKState and Pressbooks
Abstract
Open Educational Resources are teaching, learning and research materials intentionally created to be free for the end user to own, share, and in most cases, modify. Use of open educational resources (OER) encourages faculty experimentation and innovation, facilitates the practice of open pedagogy, and increases affordability of and access to educational experiences. Researchers and educators making use of OER may adopt resources created by others, adapt resources for use by editing or combining elements of resources created by others, or create new openly licensed resources. The edited resources can then be re-published for further use and revision. The purpose of this presentation will be to help faculty and educators committed to provision of access to knowledge creation across diverse communities locate OER appropriate for incorporation into their teaching, learning, and research praxis. Participants will receive a quick overview of the Pressbooks Directory followed by time to explore the directory and further curate their search through real-time interaction with others interested in discovering and using OER.
