Narrative irony and identification in "A Painful Case"
Abstract
James Joyce's "Dubliners" marks the beginning of a prolific career for the writer. My work looks at how Joyce uses irony throughout the collection, then hones in on "A Painful Case." I look at how an elusive narrative voice can affect the interpretation of this short story, especially in the context of irony.
