This report examines several instances of the insider threat and the prevalence of this threat. The argument made in the report is that this threat is a serious security risk to aviation and it warrants changes in the current hiring and screening process and insists that pilots and other personnel with access to secure areas should be screened as thoroughly as passengers. The thesis also offers several changes to the current hiring and screening process for applicants and incumbent employees.
