General science course of study for Lincoln High School
Abstract
Scope and Method of Study: A survey of general science course content was made based upon several school curriculum guides and courses of study. The topics covered in both eighth and tenth grade levels of science were studied in order to formulate subject matter in the ninth grade course. A study was made of the areas of science that were most important for the ninth grader at his own interest and maturation level. Studies of the science interest of junior high school students were used in determining the choices of topics to be presented. Course of study and units of work from school systems within the locality and from other selected areas were reviewed as sources of information in making up this course. Findings and Conclusions: A well rounded course of study in general science was developed consisting of units covering the biological and physical science areas. This course of study coordinated and complemented the science course offered at both the upper elementary and high school levels.
