dc.description.abstractScope of Study: This report deals with three of the most important developments in the early history of Bacteriology: the improvement of microscopes, the disproof of the theory concerning spontaneous generation, and the verification that microorganisms may cause various diseases. These three events, and the men that contributed to them, are discussed separately and chronologically.
