Pride Week, an honors thesis
Abstract
Each year during the spring semester, Oklahoma State University celebrates their students who belong to the LGBTQ community. This celebration, entitled Pride Week, highlights various reasons to be proud to belong to this community and allows the students within this community an outlet for speaking up about their community. Although data about this community is still undergoing research, unfortunately, it is widely found that students within this community experience higher levels of sexual violence during their time at college compared to gender-binary (or straight) students. This part of belonging to this community is often not discussed within the college society, even though it is extremely important for both students within this community and outside of it to learn about.
