Development of a formalized classification and compensation program for administrative and professional employees at Oklahoma State University
Abstract
Scope and Method of Study: This study develops a formalized classification and compensation program for all administrative and professional employees at Oklahoma State University. The study utilized the point evaluation method for determining classification and pay. The study utilized peers, colleagues and administrators to evaluate positions within their own area of responsibility. Those results were utilized attempting to verify consensus of various groups would result in the appropriate evaluation rather than results which show favoritism. Findings and Conclusions: All of the evaluation groups did classify positions within their respective division. The results were reviewed and approved by both the individual employee, and the other university committees assigned to the study. The results indicated fairness more of a concern for university-wide equity rather than our own "viewpoint". The classification results gave the large portion of raises to female employees, taking a further step toward compliance with equal pay for equal work.
