This study was concerned with the mode of entry of Beauveria basslana into the corn earworm (Heliothis zea) and the consequential histological ramifications. An understanding of these phenomena may uncover a means of enhancing the efficiency of the pathogen. The primary objecUve was to determine the location and nature of the initial penetraiion by B. bassiana into and proliferation within first instar corn earworm larvae using both light and scanning electron microscopy.
