dc.description.abstract | A study was conducted to investigate the possibility of using weather forecast data to predict the ice requirements for the next day for a thermal storage system. An energy model was developed which estimated the energy consumption of a thermal storage system and a conventional chiller system. A random number generator was incorporated to simulate a prediction error. The performances of the two systems were compared. The results are promising and further research in this area is encouraged. | |
