Some Aspects of Traditional Roles of Muslim Women as Reflected in Islamic Domestic Architecture
Abstract
It has been my good fortune over the past several years to make the acquaintance of people from the Middle East who are part of the Oklahoma State University academic community. In the course of growing friendships and respect, I realized my ignorance of their part of the world and of their religion. So began my fascjnation with the culture, religion, art, and architecture. My preliminary study of the art and decoration during a trip to England and Egypt in 1978 evolved into this thesis. It has been a labor of love, as well as the fulfillment of an academic requirement, and has opened new worlds intellectually and visually.
