Mali, like many countries in the Third World, is experiencing a severe drought causing food shortages. External aid has been helpful but for continuous selfsufficiency our own people need training in diverse facets of agriculture such as Plant Breeding, Crop Physiology, Soil Science, etc. Therefore, I have been studying at Oklahoma State University to receive advanced training in Plant Breeding so that I may be able to contribute in some way to the agricultural self-sufficiency of my country. My degree could not have been completed without the help of many people.
