This study is an investigation of the relationship between the constructs of locus of control and test anxiety in a secondary-student population. Locus of control is defined in this study as the degree to which a student perceives self-responsibility for his or her intellectualacademic successes and failures. Test anxiety is conceptualized as a student's predisposition to respond anxiously to stimuli associated with the testing situation. This study provides preliminary evidence of the relationship between these variables in a high school sample, as the literature has primarily addressed this relationship in terms of college groups.
