This study was designed to investigate the potential use of endometrial cytology in mares. The occurrence of cells and specific cell processes in cytology specimens was described and compared to cells and cell processes in the corresponding tissue specimens. These finding were correlated with endometrial pathogens reported from uterine cultures. The finding described could serve as guide for evaluation of clinical specimens and as the basis for further reserach.
