The analytic goal of this study is to determine the impact of partisanship, ideology, and constituency characteristiqs on Representatives' and Senators' support for environmental legislation in the 97th Congress. The degree to which a member supports such legislation is determined by scores developed by the League of Conservation Voters. These scores represent the percentage of time the member voted in accordance with the League's position on selected environmental votes. The findings of this study suggest that partisanship, ideology, and constituency characteristics do affect congressional pro-environmental voting behavior.
