This study presents a descriptive analysis of the local livestock auction market industry in Oklahoma. The primary objectives were to identify critical problem areas faced by the industry; to determine the effectiveness, success, and future of special livestock sales; to exam~ne managerial attitudes toward electronic livestock marketing; to explore the influences of livestock marketing organizations; to measure the effect of changing livestock volume on auction market costs; and to estimate auction market profitability. Individual auction markets can compare their costs and characteristics to the average to determine the relative strengths and weaknesses of their individual operations.
