Regenerative Hydrocyclone

Abstract

This invention relates to a regenerative hydroclone for the seperation of entrained solid particles from a fluid medium. More particularly, the invention relates to a hydroclone for the seperation of solid contaminant particles suspended in a fluid medium, the hydroclone being a closed vessel having a coaxial cyndrical and conical portion, the cylindrical portion providing a cylindrical interior surface closed at one end and having an axial clead fluid outlet opening in the closed end, a fluid intel tangentically intersecting the interior cylindrical surface, the conical portion defining an internal conical surface coincident at one end with the internal cylindrical surface of the cylindrical portion and tapering to a reduced diameter contaminant discharge opening, and wherein the parameters for given rates of flow and densitites of the fluid medium are established such that the effectiveness of the hydroclone for the seperation of the solid contaminants is increased.
