This study was conducted to provide new knowledge and tools for investigating control of unsteady leading edge vortex flows typically found on highly swept aircraft planforms. Methods for controlling the unsteady strength and spatial characteristics ofthe vortices in the flowfield using leading edge flaps were modeled and compared to existing experimental data. The model has also provided a method for investigating new ideas in control ofunsteady separated vortical flows.
