dc.description.abstractThis study was undertaken to investigate the sources of money and consumption and saving behaviors of middle-school youth in Oklahoma. The research identifies key consumption behaviors and their relationship to selected demographic and family situation variables. The results of the study are discussed in terms of recommendations for consumer education professionals and developers of curricula used to instruct students in money management and consumer education information and skills. The format of this thesis is in manuscript style. The purpose of this is to provide manuscripts suitable for pUblications as well as fulfill the traditional thesis requirements. Each manuscript is written for the style appropriate for each respective journal: Chapter 4: Manuscript 1, follows the style recommended by Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences. Chapter 5: Manuscript 2, follows the pattern of Family and Consumer Sciences Research Journal. Chapters 1, 2, and 3 and the appendices follow the Graduate College standards. Chapters 4 and 5 provide summaries and conclusions of the thesis. The cooperation of the Graduate College in the stylistic adaptations of the thesis is greatly appreciated.
