Exploring Terahertz Pulse Enhancement Through Gold Nanoparticle Deposition
Abstract
This research explored terahertz pulse changes caused by increased surface electric fields. These fields were created by depositing gold nanoparticles on the surface of terahertz coplanar transmission line emitters. Gold black, colloidal gold and gold islands were deposited. This work found that no significant terahertz signal or bandwidth gain was caused by these gold nanoparticles. However, gold island particles were observed to have a highly uniform deposition and to create a small terahertz signal increase.
