dc.description.abstract | The ANSYS BEAM188 element is the simplest beam element and matches the degrees of freedom familiar to the students from their Solid Mechanics course, e.g., displacements and rotations at the nodes; as such this model should agree most closely with the standard beam analysis solutions from Solid Mechanics. The tutorial outlines geometry creation, invocation of the BEAM188 element, application of an external load, specification of the displacement boundary conditions, and the solution process. | |
