dc.description.scopeandcontentsIn this issue of Lesbian Uprisings there are six pages various news events occurring in the area. These events are: Book groups, lesbian political groups, theatre performance, photography showing, lesbian human rights efforts in Mexico, environmental events, music, concerts, International Women’s Day, herbalist storytelling, poetry, discussion panels, works by environmental historians, drumming workshops, AIDS talks, Jewish ensembles, and local merchandise and vacation packages. Page on various Bay area Women’s Resources, mostly centers, coffee shops, and bookstores. Local letters to assistance for Cabbage Lane, the issues of conservative family members not attending gay weddings, African American Poetry, and family abuse. This newsletter also has various announcements such as CARAL-North (California Abortion Rights Action League), Feminists for Animal Rights, Lavender LEAF and She Said. Participation requests are given for musical productions, Gay and Lesbian Film Festivals, Women and Recover, alcoholism, and Lesbians living with HIV. Various articles dominate the newsletter such as the issue of women paying more taxes and tax planning in the early 1990’s. An additional article is on awareness of women and how they can get the AIDS virus answering questions involving the chances of getting the disease, CDC etc. More information is given on far right wing attacks on women. Informative article on using the internet to advertise the newsletter and local events. Article on events in eastern Europe.
