Portrayal of white characters in the slave narrative tradition
Abstract
The close investigation of two slave narratives and three neo-slave narratives each contributes to answering the question: How are white characters in the slave and neo-slave narrative tradition portrayed? In answering this question we can decide whether the authors believed people on opposing sides of the color line were capable of resolving their differences to coexist despite the legacy of slavery.
