Thermal Comfort and Economic Comparison of Two Passive Solar Heating Systems: Direct Gain and a Trombe Wall
Abstract
This study is concerned with the thermal comfort and economic comparison of two comparable passive solar heating systems, direct gain and a Trombe wall. The two systems were modeled in a case study residence so that each systen required approximately the same amount of auxiliary heat input. The thermal comfort analysis is based on a set of linear equations determined by a combination of various physiological and environmental factors. A first cost economic analysis of the two systems provides for an overall performance assessment of the direct gain and Trombe wall systems.
